Conker tree in winter

Horse chestnut trees have an unmistakeable silhouette. This one, in rural north Devon, is almost perfectly symmetrical. I made the painting in pen and thick acrylics, which I scratched with the end of a paintbrush when wet to add texture, including an abstracted criss-cross of power lines to add movement and interest.
