The Sussex Weald in summer

Sussex is all about contrasts. The white cliffs, the pebbly beaches, the bare rolling Downs and the Weald beyond, fertile and lush. I painted the original of this landscape using acrylics on glass, on a steaming hot day, so hot the air felt heavy and thick, the birdsong was muted, and the trees were perfectly still.
