Windy Woodingdean
When the prevailing wind blows due West, past Woodingdean and onwards to the chalky spine of the South Downs, drama happens. Along this old drove road running parallel to a deep U-shaped valley, the gale blows the grasses flat and forces the remaining spring snow into hiding alongside the hedgerows. Hawthorns on top of the hills grow in tortured shapes, constantly buffeted. This atmospheric painting in acrylics and mixed media showcases the beauty of this place, so remote-feeling you'd never guess it was just a stone's throw from Brighton.
